NOTE: Please be advised that there is nothing to purchase at camp; therefore, please don’t send any money with your child.
Since many pieces of clothing and items are left at camp each year, we thought perhaps the following suggestion would help in reducing the number of articles we end up with:
Parents utilize the checklist listed above to identify/track the items your child is bringing to camp. Check the items your child is bringing and enclose the list in your child’s suitcase/duffle bag. Tell your child to check their list as they unpack and recheck it as they pack up to return home from camp.
PLEASE MARK ALL CLOTHING WITH YOUR CHILD’S NAME
TELEPHONE POLICY - (PLEASE DO NOT SEND A CELLULAR PHONE OR ELECTRONIC GAMES WITH YOUR CHILD TO CAMP) WE WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR LOST OR STOLEN ITEMS.
The telephone system at camp is designed to be for emergencies only. It is not possible to make a telephone available to 200 +/- campers except in case of an emergency or very extenuating circumstances. A slight case of home sickness does not fit either of these categories and you should explain this to your child. The same rule applies to your child in receiving a phone call while at camp.
Mail Policy - Do Not Send Anything Edible and PLEASE --- DO NOT SEND “CARE”
PACKAGES -- via UPS/FEDEX/U.S. MAIL.
THEY WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED!
Mail is a delightful event in camp. Send letters early in the week,(or the week before). If it is mailed later than Wednesday, it may not arrive in time for the camper to receive it. Address all mail to the camper: In care of Montgomery County Safety Patrol (Camper’s Name), Summit Lake Camp, Session #,
7610 Hampton Valley Road, Emmitsburg, MD 21727
WHAT NOT TO BRING
*Radios, ipods, television, recorders, electronic games, fireworks, knives, candy, gum, or care packages containing edible items.
*A good camera. (We suggest a disposable one with your child’s name on it)
HOW TO REACH SUMMIT LAKE CAMP (In the event of an emergency):
